Fernando, let’s imagine a situation where in Bahrain three cars are right one behind the other. What can happen?
The mobile rear wing can only be used on one straight on a lap, so the most important thing would be to arrive at the last corner with less than 1.5 seconds behind the car in front, which is really difficult. I don’t see the possibility of many overtaking manoeuvres. I think that it will still be difficult to overtake. And overtaking will still include taking risk.

F150: description

The F150 is the fifty-seventh single-seater built by Ferrari specifically to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship. The Maranello marque chose the name as a tribute and celebration of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
The project, which goes by the internal code name of 662, represents the Scuderia’s interpretation of the technical and sporting regulations that apply this year. Various factors influenced the design of the car, especially on the aerodynamic front, to the extent that the F150 can be seen as severing ties with the recent past. The innovative aspects are in part dictated by changes to the regulations and partly down to original thinking from our designers. As far as the rule changes from 2010 are concerned, the double diffuser and the blown rear wing are banned, as is the use of apertures in the front part of the floor, while the use of an hydraulically controlled adjustable rear wing has been introduced. After an unofficial agreement saw its use banned for 2010, KERS is back this year, thanks partly to the increase in the car’s minimum weight and stricter controls on weight distribution figures. The Scuderia has decided to incorporate this technology on the F150 and this has had a significant impact on the design, also taking into account that the dimensions of the fuel cell are very different to what they were in 2009. Also significant are changes dictated by the introduction of stricter safety requirements in terms of crash-tests, cockpit area protection and wheel-retaining cables for use in accidents.

Born in Busseto, near Parma on the 4 July 1964, Fabrizio Ferrari is a compatriot of the famous composer Giuseppe Verdi and it is no coincidence that he still lives with his family in Busseto, where his private studio is also located. He is married and has a 16 year old son, Lorenzo, to whom he has already transferred his great passion for cars.
And with such beginnings in Emilia Romagna, the Land of Motors, it was fitting that he sustained the great Italian tradition: after graduating from high school, he enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering at Parma University and at the end of 1989 he moved to Modena, the recognized homeland of the supercars and Italian racing cars, to complete his specialization as a Stylist Engineer by following an in-depth course in bodywork and interiors, realised on the basis of the Lamborghini Countach in collaboration with the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese.

There is no better way to start the season as with a one two win, the result of the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso gained his first victory in red, while an excellent Felipe Massa, at his first race after his accident in Budapest last year, crossed the line behind the Spaniard. The 43 points are a good prerequisite for the rest of the season, but we cold see today how difficult and balanced this Championship will be. But now let’s enjoy the double win!

Caution can never be enough, especially at the first race. That’s why the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro decided to replace also the engine in car number 8 after abnormalities appeared during the usual routine this morning, similar to those found in Felipe’s engine yesterday. The mechanics are working incessantly to complete the replacement, which will not lead to any sanctions for the driver, who will start from the third position on the grid.

Very special support for Fernando Alonso at his debut Grand Prix with Ferrari arrived this morning when Juan Carlos, the King of Spain, came to greet him at the Scuderia’s box. The King is a great fan of motorsports and Formula 1 and didn’t want to miss the season’s first race, which will be particularly exciting.

The Bahrain GP race Sunday started with important news from the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro box. At 10am, when the FIA rules allow to work on the cars, the mechanics started to work on the F10 number 7, replacing its engine. This is a completely precautionary step: the engine, used by Felipe Massa up to the qualifying yesterday afternoon shows, some abnormal parameters, but can still be used on the track, according to the applicable rules, during free practice sessions.
The decision, taken last night, will not lead to any sanctions for the Brazilian driver, who will start from the first row.

Sakhir, 13 March

After enduring a 2009 season well below its usual expectations, Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro has returned to a much more acceptable level, getting both F10s onto the front two rows of the grid for tomorrow’s opening round, the Bahrain Grand Prix. In the new qualifying format, with all three sections of the session run on minimum fuel, Felipe Massa posted the second fastest time of the day in Q3, to close the final page of a tough chapter that began with his qualifying accident in Budapest last summer. On his debut for the team, Fernando Alonso finished just behind his team-mate in third place.

Qualifying session

Q3 Session

Chassis: F. Massa 281, F. Alonso 283

Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro got one car onto the front row of the grid for the Bahrain Grand Prix and the other onto the second row. At the end of the first qualifying session of the season, Felipe Massa was second fastest in Q3, followed by his team-mate Fernando Alonso. “It’s a good result, coming at the end of a very closely contested session,” said Stefano Domenicali. “I want to thank all the staff of the Gestione Sportiva, who have worked hard these past few months to try and close the gap to what were the top teams at the end of last season. At least today, we have returned to breathing in the air at the top of the pack, even if we are well aware that the final figures are only totted up on Sunday afternoon after the race. We can expect quite a long and tough race, during which the number one priority, as always, will be reliability: with such hot weather, cars, drivers and tyres will be put under a heavy strain. It will also be important to manage the race as well as possible, finding the right moment to change tyres. I think this is something of an unknown for everyone, given that we will be experiencing very different conditions to those we experienced in the February tests. I am very satisfied with the way Fernando has integrated himself within our team: it seems as though he has been with us for years rather than months. And I am delighted that Felipe’s return to racing will start from the front row of the grid: it is well deserved after everything he went through last year.”

The balance at the end of the third free practice session for the Bahrain GP, where the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro worked with the qualifying in sight, was positive. After the 60 minutes for the 24 drivers on the track, Fernando Alonso’s F10 drove the fastest time, with 1.54.099. The Spanish driver completed 14 laps, as opposed to his teammate Felipe Massa, who drove the sixth fastest time (1.54.761) with the same number of laps, while the Brazilian was able to better employ the tyre sets.
A small problem for Felipe and the consequently delayed entry onto the track prevented him from doing a fast lap. Third and second place on the time sheet went to the Mercedes with Nico Rosberg (1.54.368) and the Red Bull with Mark Webber (1.54.500).
